May 4th-6th - 2013 California Medical Cannabis Policy Summit & Lobby DayAmericans for Safe
Access (ASA) is pleased to announce the 2013 California Medical Cannabis Policy Summit & Lobby Day sponsored by Californians to Regulate Medical Marijuana (CRMM). This year’s summit and lobby day will be in Sacramento on May 4th-6th.
The event will include a networking reception on Saturday evening, a full day of stakeholder meetings to discuss statewide and local strategies, and skill-building workshops for citizen-lobbyists. On Monday, we will have a press conference and lobby day so that you will have the chance to talk with your state legislators about safe access to medical cannabis in California.
Last year was a great success and we must
build on our momentum by showing Sacramento that there is an organized constituency fighting for safe access. We will be announcing more specific details soon such as the specific venue, registration information, and daily agenda. Please be on the lookout for these announcements in the coming weeks.
Take Action
Urge your Representatives to support HR 689 & HR 710
Representatives Earl Blumenauer and Sam Farr recently introduced legislation that will end the federal conflict with state medical cannabis
programs. Blumenauer’s bill, titled the States’ Medical Marijuana Patient Protections Act (HR 689), will move cannabis out of Schedule 1 of the Controlled Substances Act and allow for medical research to be controlled by an agency other than the National Institute of Drug Abuse. Farr’s bill, the Truth in Trials Act (HR 710), will allow patients, caregivers and providers who are in compliance with state law to offer evidence of the medical necessity for their use of cannabis.
Please take a minute to urge your Representative in the House to cosponsor HR 689, the States' Medical Cannabis Patient Protection Act, and HR 710, the Truth in Trials Act today!
